Thanks, Tom. That didn’t seem to work. Of course, I may have misunderstood your instructions. I appreciate your suggestion anyway.

I’ve downloaded WAMP and got it set up so I can try to work out this (or perhaps another) theme offline. I stopped, though, when it came to installing WordPress. I’m currently using the next-to-last version. I had more or less decided for my live site not to fool with the update/upgrade and just wait for WP 2. So now I’m trying to decide whether to go ahead and install the recent upgrade to both live and offline site or wait for WP2 for both. Bleck. It’s things like this that make me think I should have used Blogger!

Anyway, I appreciate your help, and I’ll keep reading.

I'd have to play around with your comments file to give more accurate advice. But it seems like this section is an area you could reveal to add some explanatory info around your comment. [Note: This is an image because pasting in the php code actually runs it on my blog.] The little arrows make WordPress skip over the code, so try taking those surrounding arrows out and the php call will generate some text that shows up in your comment form. You can return to this place in your comments file and add little intro information about leaving a comment. You can delete this php tag entirely and write your own information. Keep your own commentary within the small tags. Let me know if this works. Re the email obfuscator plugin, yes, I'm just letting you know it exists in case I was misinterpreting your original question. Thanks for visiting my site.

Thanks, Tom. I seem to be in that awkward phase where the “intro” stuff on the Codex and support forums isn’t enough and the techy stuff is _too_ technical. Guess I’ll keep chipping away as as time allows.

By the way, I already did just as you suggested re the comment form text, and I swear I couldn’t find it. Guess I need to look again.

As to the plug-in, not sure what you’re getting at. I’m not displaying emails on my site. I’m going to assume you’re just telling me that such a plug-in exists should I decide to start displaying them. Thanks again.
