Related to Alltop (but not to tech writing), I’ve just learned how inclusion in Alltop can be a real vote of affirmation that you’re writing good content for your audience.

Just today I learned that the blog I write for a guinea pig rescue has just been added to Alltop’s Pets category (http://pets.alltop.com/). First guinea pig blog up there. First dedicated small-and-furry-exotic-pet blog up there.

I’ll stop jumping up and down now.

…Maybe in another 5 minutes.

I don’t have a BlackBerry and I’m not on Twitter, but Guy found me to tell me that my blog (http://cybertext.wordpress.com) is listed on Alltop’s Technical Writing list too! Must be that darned old-fashioned email address…

If I were in church and checked my Blackberry, or if I even took such an item to a place of worship, My Better Half would notice and would have taken me — and rightfully so, — to task at the soonest convenient moment. I would be allowed my mobile, but it would be turned OFF. Maybe we’re just old-fashioned.

I agree, Tom, Alltop is a great resource. I like your metaphor that it is like a large magazine rack for the Internet.
Under Social Media, six months ago they listed my blog, poetslife.blogspot.com.
I have visited Alltop blogs since and find that it is easy to navigate and use.
