While blogging is great fun, if you want to make any money at it you’d better not give up your day job.

Squidoo is much easier to make money with. There is a learning curve but it’s actually than using wordpress.

If you follow my link I have the very best squidoo tutorial that is a breeze to learn and only costs a few bucks. It’s written by one of the best squidooers there is.

That’s how I learnt to squidoo.

Making money with Adsense it’s becoming harder and harder. Couple of years ago, Adsense program was really hot

Nowdays, affiliate earnings are much more rewarding. More and more publishers go into CPA networks everyday. Adsense is paying penny per clicks .. Too bad .. I actually enjoyed it while it lasted.

There’s no better reason to accept those consulting jobs than as an excuse to deduct the expenses of your obsession!

Blogs are GREAT marketing tools for business owners. They are – in and of themselves – a HORRIBLE business model.

It reminds me of people who want to breed the family dog and “make money”. Long ago, we bred our dog and when it was all said and done, I can’t think of anything I could have done that was a LESS productive use of my time. I could have “made” more money clipping coupons!!!

Blogging is a lot like “dog breeding”. It’s a labor of love and don’t do it for the money!

But…the icky high taxes on freelance income are offset by the ability to deduct business expenses, such as computers, Internet access, web hosting costs, trips to professional conferences, and the like. Also, you get to deduct the extra self-employment tax you pay. Also also, there are some shiny beautiful retirement plans you can fund with freelance/business income, especially as a solo entrepreneur.

Dick, remember how I told you not to talk like you know anything about taxes until you do them, once, in 11 years?

25% would be a very nice, low percentage of your freelance income. (Trust me. Or do your own taxes.)
