WordPress Tip: Recording of WordPress Webinar
April 27th, 2009 | Posted in blog 5 Comments »
Last week I gave a webinar on WordPress to the STC-Suncoast chapter. I recorded the webinar using Camtasia Studio. If you have some time on your hands (for example, if you’re going on a plane ride to Atlanta and you have a few layovers), you can watch the webinar on your computer.
A few notes about the webinar. First, your computer’s resolution needs to be at least 1280px wide, because this is how I recorded it. Also, to watch it online, you need to have high bandwidth. I also made a version you can download for this very reason. Third, ideally I would break this presentation into smaller sections, tagging each section with labels in a table of contents. But that would require my whole evening, so I decided to pass on doing that.
The file is about 275 MB, which is quite large. If your bandwidth is restrictive, try downloading the zip version. After downloading and extracting the zip file, click the .html file in the folder.

Thanks! I’ll check it out on my flight this weekend.
By the way, we found an excellent video platform host for screencasting recently. If you get a chance, give Ooyala a try. They do an excellent job streaming at the high quality needed for screencasts. They also have an interesting pricing plan — they charge by the hour of video watched rather than the bandwidth downloaded.

Hi Tom,
This note is a belated thank you for your introduction to WordPress. I found the installation demo very helpful as well as the more in-depth peek beneath the covers, regarding the code.
WordPress Newbie Question, only if this is an appropriate forum. Do you have a recommended setting for using images in your posts… (100%, 90%, 80%, etc.) I know the images slow down the download time. I am adding an image to almost every post, and I am wondering if I should make them smaller, or consider not adding so many, to keep the site easy to access.
Anyway, if you do have any thoughts on this question, it would be helpful, as your entire WordPress webinar was helpful.
Thanks again,
–Peg
