Ditto. Lovely. Thank you for accepting our invitation and for being such a curious, flexible, and great teacher and speaker. Looking forward to watching you on your path to stardom!! P.S. It took me a long time to spell Stuart's name correctly and to untangle my brain and stop calling him Curt! -Vici

Ellis and CJ, thanks for the nice comments on my conference experience write-up. You definitely put on a successful event. Hope to see you online more.

Glenn, I enjoyed your comment. You summed it up well. When I can find a story, I try to craft the post around it, but of course it doesn't always work out that way. Glad to hear you finally found that Meinl coffee. With all the buildup searching for it, I hope it lived up to expectations. Let me know if you ever make your way out to Utah.

Stuart, sorry for misspelling your name. I updated the post.

Thanks for the suggestion to come to France. That's definitely in my to-see list sometime in my life.

First time you've been called "brilliant"? I thought you were pretty sharp. Don't be so modest.

Thanks for the post about our conference, Tom. The TAC Board, CJ, Claudia, Janette and Dian worked really hard to make the whole event happen.
It's really great to see so many different worlds gather into a "social network", for a common purpose like ours. This is one reason we like our conferences so much!
I'm glad you enjoyed Europe - we enjoyed having you ;-)

Nice post Tom. It was a really enjoyable conference. With so much history on one's doorstep, it so easy to take it for granted - it was my first trip to Wien/Vienna too. Coincidentally, we've a Hundertwasser lithograph on one of our walls.

Hi Tom, I can see that one of your greatest strengths is your ability to craft a story and to build up to a pithy point with which readers can take with them. I remember our conversation as we were walking to that 350 year old Restaurant in Vienna as we observed our group on our way - how we were not just individuals walking in the same general direction, but a group, a social network on the move. Maybe it is the feeling of being a member of a group that is not well recognized here in Europe that helps bind us together in a common purpose. Maybe it is the personalities involved. Whatever the reason, you nailed it when you said the social ties that bind are more important than location (in this case Vienna). My last afternoon there was spent searching for that coffee (I found it) and the city looked like yet another European city with lots of churches and bumpy streets, not half as fun as when we journeyed together to the Prater, or even along the streets by the conference center. Social networks are key. In common language, it is discovering people who share common ideas, whose thinking sharpens your own, and in the end enhances your own life. Enjoyed hanging out with you Tom and learned alot from you there. Oh, and btw, you walk the talk - You have a great blog here. Till next time, The Canadian Expat - Glenn

Hey there Tom! It was great meeting you in Vienna too. You played a huge part in making the TAC conference such a success and you've summed up the Vienna experience really well! If you're looking for an excuse to return to Europe for further exploration with Jane, might I suggest you start with "April in Paris" and a trip to the STC France Annual Conference next year? http://stcfrance.org/conference :-)

-- Stuart (first time I've been called a "brilliant Englishman", though not the first time I've been called "Stewart" :-)
